CURRENT EXHIBITION

LAMONTE LAMOUREUX

Open thru October 5th, 2024

The art of LaMonte Lamoureux invites us to a place that remains immediately familiar and instantly comforting.

His soft lines that recreate landscapes from around the world provide a sense of nostalgia and opportunity for us to insert our own memories of the people and places they evoke.  His characteristic color palette not only clearly identifies the work as a LaMonte Lamoureux, but furthers a personal relationship with the art by maintaining subtle hues and a soft lens into the worlds he creates on canvas.  There remains a sense of kindness in his paintings that overlook sometimes stark details while portraying a recognizable overview of his subjects allowing their essence to remain at the forefront of our thoughts.

These pieces are created on canvas and cradled within characteristic wooden frames stretched and created by the artist himself, furthering the sense of personal connection between subjects and creator.  Whether painting familiar vistas, flowers or cherished objects, these are the attributes that have made Lamonte Lamoureux an artist that people want to welcome into their homes and art aficionados instantly want to add to their collections.

LaMonte Lamoureux was born in Alaska, United States on January 6, 1977.  The unique landscapes and environment surrounding him began a balance of appreciating beautiful views with the unique ecology and biological systems that exist below the surface.  Lamoureux further combined these perspectives during his academic studies in the Biological  Sciences with a minor in Fine Arts at  Sierra Nevada College on a combined academic and athletic scholarship as an accomplished downhill ski racer.

UPCOMING EXHIBITION

PARKER HEATH

October 12 2024 | 5-8pm

Olympia Club is pleased to present the work of San Diego based artist, Parker Heath.  As an artist and craftsman, Heath’s work seamlessly blends the worlds of fine art and interior design, creating pieces that are both aesthetically compelling and functional. Drawing from a variety of craft traditions such as weaving, painting, ceramics, and textile work, Parker brings a multidisciplinary approach to his art. His creations embody modern design sensibilities while integrating raw, bohemian, and primitive elements, resulting in works that serve both as striking artistic expressions and practical home accessories. This fusion of art and craft allows him to challenge conventional boundaries, exploring how objects can transcend their utilitarian purposes to become symbols of contemporary life and culture.

“I’ve always been drawn to works of art that have an immediacy of reference to the handmade gesture. These paintings are an ongoing study, in which the final pieces are a result of myself trying to harness, yet expose, a visceral energy of whimsical, irregular, and meditative line drawing. The sporadic and spontaneous nature that is associated with a “scribble” or “squiggle” , is something that I find as a direct relation to how I live my life. At times lost in a complicated, tangled mess, only to find that slow, conscious, methodical movements will help you find your direction. Occasionally, untraditional materials like coffee, aspects inspired by “Art-Brut”, and organic elements that resemble mid-century modern aesthetics, are also worked into my compositions to facilitate and compliment the meditative experience of painting itself.”
